Professor from Berlin Meets Future Architects

Within the framework of the cooperation between Kuban State University (KubSU) and the Berlin University of Applied Sciences the lecture of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Friedrich Sick on “Environmentally safe construction: successful design experience” took place online on November 25, 2020.

Coordinators of the cooperation Brigitte Dressler, the deputy director of the Foreign Languages Centre of the University of Applied Sciences of Berlin, and Galina N. Govorova, the Head of the Department of International Affairs of KubSU greeted the undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Architecture and Design.

The lecture sparked a keen interest of students and professors of the faculty, as it illustrated real examples of projects in which Professor Sick is personally involved. The examples featured the opportunities of using ecological materials for facades, glass covering, improving energy efficiency and ergonomics of buildings. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from Professor Sick.

Professor Sick first visited KubSU in 2004 and now he plans to hold the next meeting with students as soon as the borders between Russia and Germany open.

Svetlana Yu. Kochetkova, the dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, also expressed the hope that the cooperation with the colleagues from Berlin will continue.

The entire period of 20 years cooperation between universities more than 650 students, professors, and staff members of KubSU and the University of Applied Sciences participated in academic mobility programs in the fields of economics, business, law, design, archeology, architecture, computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, intercultural business communication, Russian language for professional communication, translation studies, and management.
