Kuban State University with good reason is famous for its sports achievements. Since 1952, Kuban State University students became champions of the USSR, Russia, Europe, World, the Olympic Games, and to this day, they continue to glorify our country in competitions at various levels.
For the first time in the history of Russian student football, football club of Kuban State University has become the strongest team in Europe and won gold medals in Rotterdam (Netherlands) II European University Games 2014. The other rewards of the players are silver (2015) and bronze (2011) medals from prestigious European tournaments, six gold awards of All-Russian competitions (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, two of them in 2015). For 30 years, badminton team of KubSU has been unbeatably first in Krasnodar region. Track and field athletes, basketball players, chess players are the leaders of university sports in Kuban annually.
Sporting advances and accomplishments are largely due to the up-to-date facilities and resources. Kuban State University Stadium is one of the best in the South of Russia. The University has opened a first-class fitness center, sports, and wellness complex with a swimming pool, which has no analogues in the region.
In 2012 and 2013 Kuban State University was among the winners of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation contest "The University of a Healthy Way of Life" in the nomination "For the Creation of Conditions for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in High School". In 2015 Mikhail B. Astapov, head of Kuban State University became a laureate of the Russian Students’ Sports Union in the nomination "University Rector" for "Comprehensive Support of Students’ sports".
Currently, 25 masters of sports, 88 candidates for master of sports and 226 students with first adult category are students of the University.
KubSU Football team was the first in the history of Russian Collegial Football, who conquered European Olympus.
Every year at Kuban State University there are about 4 thousand students involved in various competitions.
