On September 23, 2019 a delegation of writers of the Italian Republic visited Kuban State University. The initiator of the event was the Institute for Literary Translation (Moscow).
In his welcoming speech, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, First Vice-Rector of KubSU Temyr Khagurov noted the particular importance of literature in current times, spoke about the cooperation of KubSU with Italian universities and visits of Italian officials to the university.
Vice Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology Tatyana Shemeleva and Head of the Department of Foreign Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies Aleksey Tatarinov told the guests about the main activity areas of the Faculty of Russian Philology. Evgeniia Rotai, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department, informed colleagues from the Institute for Literary Translation about a current project at the Faculty of Russian Philology that is aimed at translating works of contemporary Russian writers into Vietnamese. Colleagues agreed to continue discussions on this issue.
The guests got acquainted with the history and traditions of KubSU and visited the museum complex. During a meeting with students of the Faculty of Russian Philology and the Faculty of History, Sociology and International Relations, Italian writers spoke about the latest published works, answered numerous questions, including those asked by students of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies in the Italian language. Students showed great interest in the work of writers and would not let visitors go, asking more and more questions.
