The Oxford Russia Fund

Best students of Kuban State University will be awarded scholarships of the Oxford Russia Fund. It has become possible due to the agreement signed between the University and the Fund in May 2008.

In the academic year 2008-2009, Oxford Russia Fund scholarships of 3000 roubles were monthly awarded to 95 students who were in the third year of study in the Humanities and Social-Economic departments. They got this opportunity after passing a competition. This procedure will be renewed every year.

The Oxford Russia Fund, a UK registered Charity, was founded in 2005 by a group of alumni of Oxford University who were looking for the most effective way in which they could help new generations of Russian students and young specialists.

The Oxford Russia Fund is registered with the UK Charity Commission as Charity Number 1108957 in the Central Register of Charities. In 2006, the Russian Federal Registration Service registered a representative office of the Fund in Russia.

The Fund confines itself to helping Russian students in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Support is designed solely for Russian Higher Educational Institutions – Universities. The Fund’s primary object is to help students and young teachers in every part of Russia to make the best use of their talents, as individuals and as citizens of Russia.

The Fund is also providing support with the libraries of the Universities participating in the Scholarship Programme. In the academic year 2008-2009, the KubSU Library were provided with the newest English literature on humanities: philosophy, sociology, art, culture, psychology, history, economics, law, linguistics, religion and also British and American Literature. As a result more than 2500 books were received to the sum of 100000 pounds. All the books are accessible to the students and lecturers of KubSU, which is one of the main conditions of the Fund’s English representatives.
